La arquitectura pasiva es un enfoque de diseño que busca optimizar el uso de los recursos naturales para reducir el consumo energético de las edificaciones. Sus principios fundamentales permiten mejorar el confort térmico y disminuir la dependencia de sistemas artificiales de climatización.

Uno de los pilares de la arquitectura pasiva es la orientación del edificio. Diseñar aprovechando la posición del sol permite maximizar la captación de calor en invierno y minimizarla en verano. Además, el uso de aislamiento térmico eficiente en muros, techos y ventanas ayuda a conservar la temperatura interna.

Otro aspecto clave es la ventilación natural. Incorporar estrategias como patios interiores, ventilación cruzada y chimeneas solares favorece la renovación del aire sin necesidad de sistemas mecánicos. De igual forma, el uso de materiales de alta inercia térmica contribuye a estabilizar la temperatura interior.

Además, la implementación de sistemas de recolección de agua de lluvia y energías renovables refuerzan la eficiencia del edificio.
